Kevin G. Gerrity is a lifelong fire service professional. In 1975 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Serving as a civilian firefighter for the USAF and NASA after his enlistment, he was appointed to the Cleveland Fire Department in 1981. As a Cleveland firefighter Gerrity rose through the ranks, fighting fires and performing rescue services in many of the city’s busiest fire stations. He was awarded the Medal of Valor by the Cleveland Rotary Club in 1984. He was promoted to the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief and Assistant Chief, and appointed Chief of Fire over the 1,000+ member urban fire department in 1997.
Chief Gerrity retired from the CFD in 2004 and relocated with his family to Naples. He served as Director of Operations for Barefoot Security Services, a mid-sized local security provider headquartered in Naples and employing over 60 licensed security officers. He was appointed to a vacancy on the Golden Gate Fire Commission in 2009, and was elected to the position in 2010, and served on the board until 2022.
He attended Liberty University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with A Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
Kevin and his wife Maureen have four children and live in Golden Gate Estates. They attend St. Agnes Church, where Kevin is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
