Pope Francis Thanks Pro-Life People for Fighting Abortion

Pope Francis, currently hospitalized at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital due to double pneumonia, has continued to engage with Christians and conduct Catholic Church activities despite his health challenges.

This morning, he addressed participants of the Italian Movement for Life during their 50th-anniversary pilgrimage to St. Peter’s Basilica. In a message read by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, the Pope expressed gratitude for their unwavering support of mothers facing difficult pregnancies.

The Pope emphasized the sanctity of human life, urging the Movement for Life to persist in their mission. He highlighted the necessity for individuals of all ages to dedicate themselves to serving life, especially when it is most fragile and vulnerable, underscoring that every life is sacred and created by God for a profound purpose.

Pope Francis encouraged the Movement for Life to continue its mission, noting that “there is still and more than ever a need for people of all ages who concretely dedicate themselves to the service of human life, especially when it is most fragile and vulnerable; because it is sacred, created by God for a great and beautiful destiny.”

In addition to his written message, Pope Francis recorded an audio message from his hospital bed, thanking the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square for their prayers

Throughout his hospitalization, the Pope has maintained a stable condition. Reports indicate he is receiving respiratory therapy and motor physiotherapy, allowing him to continue some work activities from his hospital room. The Vatican has reported that he prays, rests, and works from his hospital bed.

The Pope’s commitment to his duties, even during illness, reflects his dedication to the Catholic Church and its mission. His messages from the hospital have provided comfort and encouragement to the faithful, reinforcing the importance of unity and prayer within the Catholic community.

The Italian Movement for Life, established in 1975, has been instrumental in supporting women through challenging pregnancies, advocating for the protection of unborn children, and promoting a culture that values life at all stages. The Pope’s acknowledgment of their work serves as a significant endorsement of their efforts and a call to continue their advocacy.
